To perform cashiering duties at an assigned school cafeteria; to receive cash/checks, and account for
monies collected; to prepare bank deposits and maintain associated records; and to do related work as
required. Employee in this position is responsible for the accurate accounting of cash received.

Direct supervision of School Administration. May receive technical or functional supervision from the
Business Office.

9 Operates a computerized system to collect monies and maintain records of financial
transactions at a school site.
9 Daily operation of computer lunch tracking system
9 Receives and deposits checks and cash to set-up student lunch accounts.
9 Maintain confidentiality of student lunch eligibility
9 Enters a variety of data into a computerized program
9 Recording information in student accounts
9 Contacts parents regarding balances on student lunch accounts
9 Receives, counts, batches, and rolls currency, coins, and checks received from school
food service operations
9 Responsible for securing monies daily
9 Generate reports and reconciles accounts daily
9 May be assigned to assist with maintaining serving counters, serving carts, tables, and
storage areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition
9 Other related duties as assigned

9 Correct English usage including vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
9 Basic recordkeeping practices and procedures
9 Mathematical operations
9 Effective communication in both oral and written form
9 Basic computer knowledge

Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to the receipt of funds.
Understand and follow both oral and written directions.
Operate a computerized cash register and use appropriate software to record financial and lunch
accounting activities with speed and accuracy.
Read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
Accurately perform mathematical calculations necessary for satisfactory job performance.
Make change accurately.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Understand, implement, and give oral and written directions in English.

All individuals may require pre-employment examination. A negative TB clearance and clear fingerprint
screening is required. In addition, any combination of experience and training that would likely provide
the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities
would be:
Minimum: Equivalent to high school graduation
Job related experience is desired.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions requires the following physical
demands: Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or
crawling; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; some reaching with the use of hands.
Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. Physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing
up to 15 pounds. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, a generally hazard free
environment, and in a clean atmosphere.
